We recommend that you print or save a copy of these terms for future reference.
There are other terms that may apply to you
These terms of use refer to the following additional terms, which also apply to your use of our site:
- Our Privacy Notice Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use and store your personal data.
- Our Cookie Policy Cookie Policy, which sets out information about the cookies on our site.
- Our Acceptable Use Policy Acceptable Use Policy, which sets out information about the acceptable use of our website.
- If you purchase an eBook through our site, the Standard Consumer Terms will apply to that sale. Those terms form a contract directly between you and the seller of the eBook - not between you and us. See Our role as a marketplace below for more detail.
Our role as a marketplace
This is an important section. Please read it carefully.
BookStreet.io is an online marketplace. We provide the platform and technology that allows sellers (including authors, publishers and rights-holders) to list and sell eBooks to customers like you. We do not sell eBooks to you ourselves.
When you purchase an eBook through our site, your contract for that eBook is formed directly between you and the seller. We act solely as a disclosed agent of the seller for the purposes of communicating the offer and acceptance of orders and processing payment. We are not a party to the contract between you and the seller.
The Standard Consumer Terms, which you are asked to accept at checkout, govern the sale of each eBook. Those terms set out the seller’s obligations to you, including in relation to delivery, cancellation rights, faulty products and refunds. The seller is solely responsible for the eBooks they sell, including their quality, accuracy and compliance with applicable law.
Our role is limited to providing the marketplace platform, facilitating the transaction on the seller’s behalf, and delivering the eBook file to you through our platform and by email. We do not endorse, guarantee or assume responsibility for any eBook listed on our site or for the conduct of any seller.
Your account
To purchase eBooks through our site, you will need to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
If you choose, or you are provided with, a user identification code, password or any other piece of information as part of our security procedures, you must treat such information as confidential. You must not disclose it to any third party.
We have the right to disable any user identification code or password, whether chosen by you or allocated by us, at any time, if in our reasonable opinion you have failed to comply with any of the provisions of these terms of use.
If you know or suspect that anyone other than you knows your user identification code or password, you must promptly notify us at Contact Page
You may only create one account per person. You must not create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions or for any other reason.
Age verification for age-restricted content
Certain eBooks listed on our site contain content which is unsuitable for persons under the age of 18 (“age-restricted content”). Before you can view, purchase or access any age-restricted content, you must complete our age verification process.
We use automated verification to confirm your age, but may ask you for further information to confirm your age.
We process your identification documents solely for the purpose of verifying your age. Once verification is complete, we will securely delete your identification documents and retain only a record that your age has been verified, the date of verification and the method used. For more information about how we handle your personal data for age verification purposes, please see our Privacy Policy Privacy Policy,
We reserve the right to refuse access to age-restricted content if we are unable to satisfactorily verify your age, or if we have reason to believe that the identification you have provided is not genuine. We may also require you to re-verify your age from time to time.
These age verification measures are implemented in accordance with our obligations under Part 5 of the Online Safety Act 2023 and the guidance issued by Ofcom in relation to highly effective age assurance. By submitting your identification, you consent to our processing it for this purpose.
We may make changes to these terms
We amend these terms from time to time. Every time you wish to use our site, please check these terms to ensure you understand the terms that apply at that time.
We may make changes to our site
We may update and change our site from time to time to reflect changes to our products, our users needs and our business priorities.
We may suspend or withdraw our site
Our site is made available free of charge for browsing purposes.
We do not guarantee that our site, or any content on it, will always be available or be uninterrupted. You are also responsible for ensuring that all persons who access our site through your internet connection are aware of these terms of use and any other applicable terms, and that they comply with them.
We may transfer this agreement to someone else
We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation. We will always tell you in writing if this happens and we will ensure that the transfer will not affect your rights under these terms.

Our responsibility for loss or damage suffered by you

General
We do not exclude or limit in any way our liability to you where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or the negligence of our employees, agents or subcontractors, and for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Our role as marketplace platform
As explained under "Our role as a marketplace" above, when you purchase an eBook through our site, your contract is with the seller. We are not a party to that contract. Different limitations and exclusions of liability will apply to liability arising as a result of the supply of any eBook to you, and those are set out in the Standard Consumer Terms which govern the sale.
We do not guarantee and are not responsible for:
- The quality, accuracy, completeness, legality or reliability of any eBook listed on our site.
- The conduct, performance or solvency of any seller.
- The truth or accuracy of any eBook listing, description, review or other content provided by sellers or other users.
- The outcome of any transaction or dispute between you and a seller.
- Any loss arising from the actions, decisions or failures of third-party payment providers, including account freezes, reversals, delays or terminations.
If you are a consumer user
We only provide our site for domestic and private use. You agree not to use our site for any commercial or business purposes, and we have no liability to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, or loss of business opportunity.
If defective digital content that we (rather than a seller) have supplied damages a device or digital content belonging to you and this is caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill, we will either repair the damage or pay you compensation. However, we will not be liable for damage that you could have avoided by following our advice to apply an update offered to you free of charge or for damage that was caused by you failing to correctly follow installation instructions or to have in place the minimum system requirements advised by us.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability to you in connection with your use of our site (other than in connection with the purchase of eBooks, which is governed by the Standard Consumer Terms between you and the seller) shall not exceed £100.
If you are a business user
We exclude all implied conditions, warranties, representations or other terms that may apply to our site or any content on it.
We will not be liable to you for any loss or damage, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, even if foreseeable, arising under or in connection with use of, or inability to use, our site or use of or reliance on any content displayed on our site.
In particular, we will not be liable for loss of profits, sales, business, or revenue; business interruption; loss of anticipated savings; loss of business opportunity, goodwill or reputation; or any indirect or consequential loss or damage.
Payment processing
All payments for eBooks purchased through our site are processed by third-party payment providers. We act as agent for the seller in collecting payment. We do not control and are not responsible for the actions, decisions or failures of such payment providers, including account freezes, reversals, delays or terminations.
We do not store your payment card details. All payment information is handled directly by our third-party payment provider in accordance with applicable security standards.
Refunds
As the contract for each eBook is between you and the seller, any refund will be processed in accordance with the Standard Consumer Terms. If you wish to request a refund or cancel an order, please contact our customer service team, and we will liaise with the seller on your behalf.
We will process refunds on the seller's behalf where required under the Standard Consumer Terms or applicable law. Any refund will be made using the same payment method as the original transaction.
How we may use your personal information
We will only use your personal information as set out in our Privacy Notice Privacy Policy,.
